A stunning original British Quad poster for the film "From Russia With Love" folded as issued, captures attention with its remarkable artwork, often hailed as the pinnacle of the franchise. The origin of its design sparks debate, commonly linked to Eric Pulford (1915-2005), a prominent British art director lauded by The Guardian as a pivotal figure in British film poster history. Pulford enlisted the talents of Renato Fratini (1932-1973), a celebrated Italian artist residing in London at the time, for the illustrations. However, assertions challenge Pulford's claim to the design, suggesting his colleague Eddie Paul as the true creator, as argued by Sim Branagham in the authoritative "British Film Posters." Notably, this campaign marked Fratini's sole contribution to Bond posters, making it a coveted collectible. The design introduced the iconic Bond pose: poised upright, clad in a tuxedo, gripping a gun across his chest, a motif recurrent in subsequent posters.

This is one of the absolute best surviving examples of this poster. The colors are very bright and vibrant, with no fading. No pinholes, tears, scuffs, chips, stains, or paper loss missing in the crossfolds, which is very uncommon for a poster 60+ years old. Other than one additional very faint fold line in the top half of the poster, this could have otherwise been graded as “Near Mint.”

"From Russia with Love," directed by Terence Young, was released in 1963 and features Sean Connery as James Bond. In this second installment of the Bond series, Bond is tasked with retrieving a decoding device while navigating a complex web of deceit and betrayal involving the Soviet organization SPECTRE and the mysterious assassin Red Grant, played by Robert Shaw. Cultural significance lies in its status as one of the most beloved Bond films and its influence on subsequent spy thrillers. Interesting facts include the film's use of Istanbul as a setting, showcasing its vibrant culture and iconic landmarks. The film had a budget of approximately $2 million and grossed over $78 million worldwide. "From Russia with Love" received critical acclaim and was nominated for the BAFTA for Best British Film, cementing its place as a classic entry in the Bond franchise.
